Updates from January

Updated: Feb 19, 2020

January has been a busy month here at the Alpha-Phi chapter!

A New Executive Council & Mid-Year 2020

At the end of last year, the chapter elected a new Executive Council for 2020. These individuals are excited to lead this fraternity for the next year and elevate this fraternity to never before seen heights!

President: Thomas Hills

Vice President: Austin Grant

Treasurer: Patrick Nercessian

Secretary: Tripp Berini

Alumni Secretary: Eric Santana

Herald: Noah Sims

Every year, Sigma Pi hosts the Mid-Year Leadership Conference, an international conference where leaders from chapters around the world are able to come together and learn how to effectively run their chapters. We were able to send 4 brothers from our EC to Kansas City and take part in this event. The advice and training they received will greatly benefit the chapter over the next year, and we are so lucky to have been able to participate in this conference!

Spring Recruitment

When the brothers all returned to Athens, recruitment for the spring went into full swing. Our rush chairs, Cameron Wall, Griffin Sykes, and Andrew Light, planned an amazing week designed to meet as many potential new members as possible and put together a strong class to go into the new semester. These events included the fraternity attending an Ice Dawgs game and Winterfest, our annual winter party. Following the recruitment period, we were able to sign 7 new members for our fraternity. Congratulations to our rush chairs on a successful week, and now we look forward to the summer to begin Fall Recruitment.

Savannah Formal

As MLK weekend rolled around, it was time for the Orchid Ball, our annual formal weekend. This year our event was in Savannah, Georgia, and it was a total success. The brothers enjoyed many of the things Savannah offers, such as the world-famous ghost tours, Forsyth Park, and River Street. Our formal event took place on the Georgia Queen, a riverboat that took us on a tour of the Savannah River. Formal weekend is always one of the most memorable weekends of the semester, and Savannah did not disappoint in the slightest. We will be back!

January was an amazing month for the Alpha-Phi chapter. We hope February brings us more of the same!
